INTRODUCTION

In this insightful teaching, Master Woo Myung explains that humans can never truly know another person simply by observing the outward appearance.
A person’s occupation, personality, and—most importantly—the content of his mind remain hidden from external perception. 🌿

Throughout history, people misunderstood sages because they judged based on appearances, just as many judged Jesus Christ as merely a carpenter’s son.
Only by understanding what exists within a person’s mind can one know whether he is living as Truth.
This writing emphasizes that one speaks and acts only according to what is within, and only Truth itself can guide people to become Truth and reach heaven.

It Is Impossible to Know a Person from His Outward Appearance

There are many, many people in the world. No one can know what a person’s profession is, or what his personality is like just by looking at him. So naturally, it is impossible to know what his mind is like. It is a worldly conception that a sage or a person of Truth is a person who speaks as if he knows extraordinary things. There are some people who claim to be sages but a sage is a person who is Truth.

Jewish people judged Christ by his appearance and thought he was merely the son of a carpenter and not the son of God. Even now, they believe he was only a prophet and they are waiting for a Savior to come.

It is not possible to know if someone is Truth just by looking at his appearance. It is also impossible to know his consciousness. The only way to know him is to learn everything he has within him and become him.

If he is Truth, he will teach Truth and he will be able to teach as much as he has in his mind.

For example, a person who does not know Mongolian will not be able to teach someone how to speak Mongolian. In the same way, a person speaks and acts according to what he has in his mind. Although there are many people in the world, and there are countless more who have lived then passed away, the only person who can make people become Truth and go to heaven is Truth.

Even among people living in the world, those who live well and succeed are people who have constant and upright minds; people who have broad minds and can accept many things; and people who have positive mind-sets. If people become the mind of Truth, they will all work with this big and broad mind so everything will work out well for them. The Bible says people look at outward appearances while Jehovah looks into the inner heart. This means that people judge others based on their looks while Jehovah looks at how much one’s mind has become Truth.
