π‘ INTRODUCTION
What is the origin of human greed? π
According to Master Woo Myung, greed arises from the desire to survive. When people live with a self, they naturally seek comfort and personal gain, and this produces greed.
β¨ The standard for what is and is not greed is simple:
- Anything done for oneself is greed.
- Anything done for others selflessly is not.
πΏ From the position of Truth, when the self is discarded and one lives without a separate βI,β there is no greed. But as long as one lives with a self, all actions are rooted in greed.

Where Does Human Greed Come from, and What Is the Standard That Decides What Is and Is Not Greed?
Human greed comes from the desire to survive. The desire for comfort and personal gain, which comes from having a self, gives rise to a personβs greed.
The standard for deciding what is and is not greed is the following: anything done for oneself is greed, whereas what is done for the benefit of others is not.
From the position of Truth, anything done selflessly β when one does not have a self β is not greed, but all things done when one has a self is greed.

π± REFLECT AT SANTA CLARA MEDITATION
π‘ Greed is born from the self.
πΏ When the false self disappears, actions become selfless and aligned with Truth.
Through Master Woo Myungβs meditation, one can discard the self and live free from greed, acting only for the benefit of others.
