But according to Master Woo Myung, blessings are not given—they are lived, and they are formed in the mind.

Only a mind of Truth—big, open, and free of self—can carry blessings.
To truly live with blessings, one must be reborn in mind, and then blessings will follow in all things.

Blessings

People want to have many blessings. Some yearn for fortunate relationships with others, some grumble about their misfortunes in finances, while others complain about their luck concerning children; they all ask endlessly for blessings. They want wealth, good food and nice clothes, to have children and a good life partner, health, to have high grades in a good school, and get a good job; their desires are endless. They seek blessings through prayer, from fortune-tellers, or from some other superstitious entities.

Your life, however, is determined by your actions, which come about by what you have in your mind. It is as the Korean adage says, “Life becomes what you have put in your mind.” For example, if one learns medicine in school, after graduation he will live as a doctor as a result of the medicine he has in his mind. If he learns law in school, he will work in the field of law. He will work with computers if he learned about computers. Likewise, how we live now is the reflection of our minds. If we have diligence in our minds, we will live prosperously by working very hard, while if we have laziness in our minds, then we will live in poverty for we are lazy.

In the same jobs there are two people: the first changes his mind to fit to others’ minds and is successful, while the second does not change his mind because he is inflexible, and so he does not succeed. Without good grades, you cannot go to a good school; without action you cannot get money no matter how hard you pray; you must work diligently to earn money. Obviously, results will come about only when one works hard.

Taking action and the way we treat people – everything comes from the mind; when wisdom comes from your mind, you will have results the moment you take action. The person who has blessings will live well and be happy.

Only when blessings exist in your mind, can you be truly blessed. People cannot receive blessings because the blessings do not exist in their minds. People’s minds are self-centered, so there cannot be any blessings in their minds. Such minds are full of false delusions, and blessings cannot exist there.

When a person cleanses his false, self-centered mind and there is no existence of his self, when he has the widest, biggest, highest, and lowest mind, which is Truth, he is blessed and everything in the world will turn out well. Blessings will follow when he accepts everything without conflict, hindrance, discernment, and judgment; his mind’s capacity is big enough to put everything in as he has no self and he is blessing itself. Whatever he does would be a blessing because there is no self; everything will be accomplished.

The greatest blessing in the world is to have the blessing of heaven. The blessing of heaven is to become Truth and live forever in the kingdom of Truth. When you have the blessing of heaven you cannot help but live well because wisdom manages your life and your actions. You will live with all the blessings of the world. This is the same for all people when they live in this world; one who is pessimistic with a narrow mind cannot be successful, while one who has a big accepting mind, the mind of Truth’s blessings, is optimistic and he can put his ideas into action, and when there is action results will follow; thus, you will have blessings. If you want to be blessed, you must change your mind into the biggest mind by throwing away your passive, narrow conceptions and behaviors through cleansing your mind. Then everything in the world will be a blessing. The blessings you wish for will come as a result of true actions.

You will live to the extent of what you have in your mind, no more and no less than that frame of mind; only when you are reborn can your destiny completely change; you can accomplish your will. You must have a mind that is big enough to accomplish all, and once you cleanse your mind it will be big enough.
