Introduction
β¨ In this reflective and globally resonant writing, Master Woo Myung speaks about the experience of living in a foreign placeβphysically distant from oneβs homeland, yet deeply connected through the mind.
He recalls a time when even traveling a short distance felt like entering another world, and how hardship led people to leave their homes and scatter across the globe. πΏ From Korea to America, Europe, Asia, and beyond, generations have settled far from where they began, carrying their memories, culture, and identity with them.
Yet beyond this physical migration, Master Woo Myung points to a deeper journeyβthe movement toward Truth and oneness, where all separation dissolves and humanity becomes one.
Original Writing by Master Woo Myung
A Foreign Place
Many people live scattered around the world,
thousands of miles away from home.
In the past, many tears were shed as people left their homes
for it was thought even a place tens of miles away
was a foreign place.
Even when this tiny country was an agricultural nation,
many people went hungry even though they farmed for a living.
There was a time when we went barefoot
with only tattered clothes on our backs.
Without clothes or shoes
and without enough to eat
people turned their backs on the land of their homes,
and scattered like the wind to cities and countries around the world.
China, Japan, Russia, America, Europe,
South America, North America, Asia, Middle East;
there was nowhere they did not go.
For Truth, coincidentally yet inevitably,
Korean people went to all corners of the world.
Past the first generation, and the second,
there are places now with third generation Koreans,
and some with the second generation.
There are some places where the original immigrants still live.
They lived their lives with Korean minds,
but their bones will probably be buried in foreign soil.
We speak the same language,
so they are the springboard
from which Truth will spread.
When they become Truth,
the local people of each country
will study Truth that hails from Korea,
and when they too become Truth,
the world will become a land of one,
and a day will come when all people live a life filled with laughter.
A day will come when the world becomes one,
and all religions unite;
when all people are in heaven while they are living;
when mankind and the Universe become complete
and live forever in a heavenly kingdom.
β Woo Myung
Reflect at Santa Clara Meditation
πΏ The teaching of Master Woo Myung begins with the reality of migration, hardship, and separation, but ultimately points toward something far greaterβglobal unity through Truth.
This writing suggests that while people may live far from their physical homeland, the deeper journey is about returning to the true origin, beyond nationality, culture, or identity. When individuals awaken to Truth, the divisions between countries, religions, and people naturally dissolve.
At Santa Clara Meditation, practitioners are guided to cleanse the mind and transcend the boundaries of the self. Through the teachings of Master Woo Myung, one can reflect on identity, belonging, global unity, and the path to becoming one with Truth, moving toward a world where all people live together in peace, harmony, and completeness. β¨
