π‘ INTRODUCTION
β¨ What does it truly mean to empty the mind? According to Master Woo Myung, the phrase goes deeper than simply clearing thoughts. The paradox is that the mind does not really existβyet because people live within their self-made thought-mass, it seems to exist.
π± This thought-mass is the false self, created by karma and habits. The βindividualβ mind, filled with memories, conceptions, and burdens, is not the true self. To empty the mind means to eliminate this individual thought-massβto free oneself from the false mind that binds.
π When the self disappears, one becomes free. Emptying the mind is not erasing something realβit is discarding what was never true in the first place.

π ORIGINAL WRITING BY MASTER WOO MYUNG
Emptying the Mind
The mind does not really exist.
That it does not exist means it exists.
Though this seems to mean
two completely different things,
polarities always coincide.
Emptying the mind does not mean
emptying a mind that never existed;
it means to eliminate the individual mind.
The individual does not exist.
But because he has a life, he has a mind,
which means that mind β that thought-mass β is
his self.
And that self was created β
in other words, his thought-mass became immanent β
due to his karma and habits.
Therefore emptying the mind means
becoming free of the thought-mass.
