INTRODUCTION

✨ In this clarifying and precise teaching, Master Woo Myung addresses a common spiritual misunderstanding—the belief that one is already Buddha simply by thought or belief. 🌿 He explains that phrases such as “You yourself are Buddha” are often misunderstood when taken intellectually, without discarding the false self.

Master Woo Myung teaches that true Buddhahood is not an idea to believe in, but a state that arises only after the delusion of self is completely thrown away. 🌌 When the false self disappears, what remains is Buddha itself—and only then is one truly reborn as Buddha.

This writing reveals the difference between conceptual awakening and real awakening, guiding the reader away from delusion and toward genuine Truth. 🌠

ORIGINAL WRITING BY MASTER WOO MYUNG

The Delusion That You Yourself Are Buddha

There was once a Buddhist monk
who came to study meditation.
While in Level Four, he asked me,
“I think I am Buddha. Am I right?”
He asked me this because he had read in books
and heard from Buddhist sermons the phrase,
“You, yourself, are Buddha.”

Buddha said that one is Buddha
when one becomes Buddha.
What this means is that you can become
the true Buddha
after you throw away your own delusion
of the Buddha who is telling you
that you are Buddha.

When you throw away your false self,
only Buddha remains,
and it is at that moment
that you are reborn as this Buddha,
who is the true Buddha.

REFLECT AT SANTA CLARA MEDITATION

At Santa Clara Meditation, practitioners learn to distinguish between belief and realization. 🌿 Through meditation, one discards the false self and all delusions of awakening, allowing true Buddhahood—Truth itself—to naturally remain.
