INTRODUCTION

💧 In this deeply reflective poem, Master Woo Myung speaks through the voice of rain — a symbol of creation, impermanence, and love.

Rain falls and vanishes, yet it reveals the Truth that what comes and goes is not the essence, but the stillness that remains beyond change.
Master Woo Myung reminds us that people often mistake appearances — the rain, the sound, the form — for reality. Yet what is truly eternal is the unchanging origin behind all movement, the existence of Truth that neither comes nor goes. 🌿

Through the lens of rain, the poem awakens us to the futility of human distinctions and the beauty of returning to pure seeing — to perceive without separation, to exist as Truth itself. 🌈

ORIGINAL WRITING BY MASTER WOO MYUNG

Rain

Rain falls from the sky.
Its droplets must hit the ground
in order to make sounds.
It is through me that those raindrops come.
Whether it is raining or snowing, I remain unchanging.
Though everything may change,
my image remains the same.

The rain you ask for and the rain you shun
does not come or go,
yet people are sensitive to it.
It is out of existent love that
the whole of creation comes like the rain
and then leaves like the rain.
But people view me only as rain;
such is without a doubt false.
I wish that people would not see me as rain
but just see.

It is important to know the futility of life.
People are wretched indeed because
even though all creations will disappear as a whole,
people differentiate them and each other.

The rain has nowhere to go now.

REFLECT AT SANTA CLARA MEDITATION

At Santa Clara Meditation, the teachings of Master Woo Myung guide us to see beyond what appears and to find the unchanging Truth within all things. 🌧️
Rain reminds us of the cycle of existence — coming and going, forming and dissolving — yet the essence remains unmoved.

Through meditation, we learn to see the world without separation, to let go of comparisons, and to live as one with the flow of existence — like rain that returns to the sky. ☁️
