A Life of Dreaming and the Empty Sky
A person who does not know where he should go,
where he is going, or which path to take,
is struggling to possess things in a dream.
He is busy but his busy activity is pointless.
One who has woken understands that the dream is futile
but he who is in the dream does not,
because he is still dreaming.
Although he is busily wandering around,
he is a false image wandering in his mind,
and he does not try to wake up from his dream
into the place of real Truth.
Life inside a dream is a life of pain and burden;
life inside a dream is an illusion;
life inside a dream is just a useless dream.
There are those who enjoy the dream
and ask to be left dreaming,
and there are those who inside a useless delusion,
agonize, moan and suffer, but either way,
those minds are theirs and not the world’s,
so again, it is a dream.
When one’s silent delusions have become his self,
he may move busily,
but anything he busily achieves is just a dream.
Like the silently passing time and lives in the world,
countless stories, events, this and that,
all become dreams and disappear, just as dreams disappear.
What one seeks or tries to achieve in the dream
are all dreams even if they are achieved or found.
The silent empty sky exists without a care
for the various stories of human life.
Only man dreaming a dream has many stories and events.
The silent empty sky creates all things, gives them life,
and lets them live with nature’s flow.
People who go on and on about their lives
live trying to fulfill their will,
but once again, they are just dreams.
Unable to be one with the world
and live according to the world’s will,
man who lives by his own will lives in a dream
because he has not been born in the world.
The minds of longings, regrets, desires,
good and bad, likes and dislikes;
the mind that discriminates
this is this and that is that;
they are all dreams.
None of this exists in the empty sky,
so it is complete freedom and liberation.
The empty sky exists beyond the human dream world.
Living without the mind that it is alive,
without words or any minds,
only the empty sky is noble.
It has no dreams or a life lived,
but it is alive; it is liberated.
This state of liberation is a place of holiness.
It is holy and supreme
because it does not have impure minds;
it does not belong to anything,
and it exists of and by itself.
It is holy because it does what it needs to do silently.
It is holy because it exists as an everlasting being
without the mind of having done all.
It is holy because even though it has no plan nor speaks,
it does all it needs to do according to nature’s flow.
It is holy because it lives a life of nature’s flow,
acts according to nature’s flow,
and everything happens according to nature’s flow.
It is holy because it does not have the mind
that something is hot, cold, dirty, ugly,
clean, good or bad, this or that.
It is holy because it has absolutely nothing.
It is holy because it has no mind to achieve
nor does it try to achieve.
It is holy because it has no greed at all.
It is holy because it does not have a care
whether the water flows or the wind blows,
or whatever events arise,
and because it is not within the hardships that come its way.
It is holy because it does not yield in any situation,
nor does it die, and it is free from all things.
It is holy because it is the master of the world,
the Creator of all things in the world,
without once showing a sign that it is so.
It is holy because it saves man and all things in the world
giving them all the necessary conditions to be saved,
and yet has no mind it is doing so.
It is holy because after having accomplished something,
it has no mind of accomplishment.
It is holy because after it has given all to the world,
it does not have the mind of having given.
It is holy because even though it created all material and spiritual things,
it does not have that mind.
It is holy because it saves and gives life to all things
without the mind or the plan of trying to do so.
It is holy because it saves all things in the world
without expecting anything in return.
