๐ŸŒŸ INTRODUCTION

โœจ In this profound teaching, Master Woo Myung explains the subtle meaning of nimitta and animittaโ€”the coming and going characteristics of existence and the state toward which human life ultimately heads. ๐ŸŒฟ

He reveals that attachments arise only because the self exists, and that when the self is discarded, the world of animitta naturally appears. ๐ŸŒŒ

This message clarifies how nimitta and animitta are not separate, but are truly one within Truth. ๐ŸŒ

Nimitta and Animitta

The characteristics that come and go are all of nimitta.
The state to which human life heads to is animitta.

The attachments people of this world speak of exist
due to the fact that their selves exist.
In other words oneโ€™s life exists because one exists;
oneโ€™s conceptions and habits exist because his life exists.
Thus oneโ€™s attachment is his sense of self-existence.

I undergo ceaseless hardships in
my fight against the worldโ€™s attachments,
which are its demons.
I teach people about animitta
and about the nimitta that is within animitta;
I teach them about how nimitta and animitta are one.

๐Ÿ” REFLECT AT SANTA CLARA MEDITATION

At Santa Clara Meditation, practitioners are guided to recognize how attachments arise from the sense of self and to experience the state of animitta beyond changing forms. ๐ŸŒฟ Through meditation and reflection, they come to understand how nimitta and animitta are truly one, exactly as taught by Master Woo Myung.
