INTRODUCTION

✨ In this writing, Master Woo Myung clarifies a common misunderstanding about the path of Truth—that enlightenment is about acquiring supernatural powers.

Rather than flying through the sky or performing miracles, this teaching reveals that true dō-sul is not about gaining for oneself, but about realizing , the way things truly exist. When we live according to our own image, just as nature already does, we are already within Truth. 🌿

ORIGINAL WRITING BY MASTER WOO MYUNG

Supernatural Powers

When people hear of a person who is walking ‘the path of enlightenment’ or ‘the path of Truth,’ they immediately think of a person who is able to fly, make things appear out of nowhere, disguise himself as something else, or that he is omniscient and can do whatever he pleases. There are some who come to practice meditation in order to gain such uncanny abilities, but such people are far from Truth because they only seek to gain for themselves.

When we are faced with an unsolvable problem, we seek out extraordinary solutions, even supernatural powers, or ‘dō-sul.’ Dō-sul is actually the way in which we can achieve Truth, or ‘dō’. And since achieving Truth is the most difficult thing in the world, we tend to seek out dō-sul whenever we are met with difficult situations.

Indeed, dō-sul refers to the method of achieving dō, which is Truth. But man is foolish enough to think that there are people in this world who can actually fly. If there really were such people, the most they could make of their powers would be to win a gold medal at the Olympics. Those who can fly the farthest are actually the ones who can jump the farthest, and those who can fly the highest are actually the ones who can jump the highest.

In other words, the world as it is – the world as we see it – is dō, and the way in which each creation lives according to its own image is Truth.
